Gordon Ramsay is a Scottish-born chef, restaurateur, author and television presenter. His career combines restaurant cooking with programs such as Hell’s Kitchen, MasterChef and Kitchen Nightmares; different national editions have different histories.
Restaurant career
After hotel-management training, Ramsay worked with chefs including Albert Roux and Marco Pierre White in London and Guy Savoy and Joël Robuchon in France. He became head chef at Aubergine in 1993 and opened Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in London in 1998.
Television, books and charity
His television work ranges from competitions to travel and cooking instruction. His published work includes home-cooking books and an autobiography. Ramsay and his wife Tana established their charitable foundation in 2014; its official biography identifies a partnership with Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
